We were thrilled to announce back in December that our scholarship recipients had been chosen, and now we are even more excited to tell you more about just a few of them. This will be the first in a series of three posts devoted to them and their aspirations.
We begin with Brooklynn. She is from North St. Louis County and is currently majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in Pre-Law. She has her sights set on attending law school after she graduates and would one day like to be an immigration attorney. She has an internship right now with Missouri State Senator Angela Mosley. Brooklynn is a part of the Honors College and is also a Mizzou legacy as her mother also attended there.
She has enjoyed her time at Mizzou so far and values her involvement on campus very highly, as it has given her opportunities to learn new skills and left her feeling more connected. Brooklynn is currently serving as a senator for the Legion of Black Collegians, and is director of community outreach for the NAACP. She also finds time to volunteer for the local food bank in Columbia, as well as an organization called Dream Outside the Box.
We are so very happy to be just a small part of her support network, and we wish her the best in her future academic pursuits. We can’t wait to see where you go from here, Brooklynn!
